Doug Hymas has served as Japan Country Executive for The Bank of New York Mellon in Japan, including as manager of the bank’s Tokyo branch, as representative director/chairman of the securities company, and as director of the trust bank, the investment management company and Eagle Investment Systems Japan Company, Ltd. He will complete his service with BNY Mellon at the end of March.
Mr. Hymas has worked in Japan since 1991 and in Japan’s financial services industry since 1995. From 2001, Mr. Hymas has been active in advocacy efforts to reform and internationalize Japan’s financial regulatory framework, including rule changes to accommodate Japan’s first ETFs. He currently serves as a governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, on the Executive Committee of the International Bankers Association, and on the board of governors for the Japan Chapter of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA). He also serves as House Committee Chair for the Tokyo American Club.
Mr. Hymas was elected Vice Chair of the 30% Club Japan’s inaugural board and serves as Chair of the Investor Group. He also serves as Treasurer of the Far East Council of the Boy Scouts of America and as an adjunct professor at the Japan campus of Temple University’s law school.
